Carpets was dirty, made our socks black
Great location for our trip to Adventureland. Easy to get to anywhere near Des Moines from the motel, as it's right off Interstate 80. Gas station/restaurant is right next door if you need anything. Great place if you just want to crash after a long day.
This motel was adequate though note it's very basic. No refrigerator or micro in your room. No toiletries such as shampoo, etc was a big surprise (we never take shampoo on a trip anymore as we expect to use the hotel's). Had two teenagers along and the swimming pool closed at 9:30pm on a Saturday night - we didn't check in until 8:30pm so were disappointed. This motel would be best for people with very young children or if you just need a place to crash on a trip.
It was very easy to get to and where we needed to go after getting to Altoona was very easy and close to the hotel/ Right next door to a big truck stop with a good restaurant.
The beds were not the most comfortable.
The rate they gave me was $39.99 compared to the Booked.net rate of $45.99.What's up with that???
People smoking in the doorways...
Close to fair is the only reason for stay.
Elevated rates for fair goers, not worth $90 dollars a day, no continental breakfast included, only coffee, will not be my choice again.
The Motel 6 was clean and convenitently located. The wood-look floors made it feel like a hospital room, but would be easier to keep clean. The upgraded tv's are a huge improvement.
The bed was hard. The room could use a soft chair. You need to give up some things for a low cost room, but the clean room and halls were not one of them.
the pool it was very salty and my kids couldnt bare to be in there more then 20 min and did not want to go back. we really like the hotel but the pool is a very big part of picking a hotel so we may not be back unless they fix the pool.
Easy access for a traveler
There was no stopper for the tub and we needed to ask for one...after taking a tub bath we noted that the flooring around the tub in the bathroom and that extending out into the sink are was wet. We assume there had been a problem in the past and this is why no tub stopper. This got clothing wet that had been placed in the sink area and we could not wear it after bathing. It is no wonder that the room felt extremely humid like it needed a dehumidifier to relieve the moisture in thee room.
It was close to our destination
We booked 2 rooms for 4 adults and 1 child. The rooms were sterile with vinyl flooring. There was only 1 bed in each room ( hardly sufficient for the number of guests) and roll out beds/cots are not availlable.
The hotel looked fairly new or recently updated. Very clean facility. We found the beds to be very comfortable. Front desk personnel helpful and pleasant.
I can only guess that the loud noise of children running in the hallways was possibly because of wood flooring under the carpet. I actually give blame to the parents for allowing such behavior later at nite. There was no problem with noise from other rooms. Although the rooms (we had two) were very clean, they were both clammy and damp musty smell. I appreciated the hard flooring, because I felt it could be kept cleaner than carpet. On the other hand I didn't like the cold under my feet.
The rooms were clean the staff was friendly it was close to the things that my wife and I were attending.
The pool was broke most of the weekend and on the hottest weekend of the year that was not very good. And the vending machines were broke.
Close to the casino. Close to I80
Room had no carpet, maybe pet freindly?
I traveled with a group of 3 families for a weekend at Adventureland Park and that was what it was an adventure. A total of 3 rooms were reserved 2 rooms with 2 beds and 1 room with 1 bed. We got 3 rooms each with 1 bed and the rooms were disgusting, I can only speak for myself but I can tell you I will never ever ever stay at a Motel 6 again, I think your new slogan should be Motel 6 will leave the light on for you and the dirty towels and trash laying around your room, your bed unmaid, etc..
They did not honor the original reservation at first. Lots of confusion. Then th room we did get in smelled horrible. Like dead fish and a chemical. Dirty floors. Fellow travelers were put in uncleaned rooms.
I was pleased with the room. It was clean. I liked the location of our room in the motel, close to outside entry door. It was quiet. Great value and would stay again when we travel to Des Moines area.
